ABOUT THESE POEMS Like my two previous collections, "Into The Dark" and "Amid These Empty Years", the poems in this book represent a selection culled from a particular span of time. However, unlike its predecessors, there were no notably cataclysmic life happenings to break up the flow of my writing, so these 49 poems have a somewhat denser genesis, being pulled from the 500 pieces I wrote In the years 1988 and 1989. Again, I have arranged these in chronological order to present something of the continuity of their composition.
Themes change over time. The writer changes, his access to the Muse changes, and sometimes decays. The accumulation of age and the experience of duration are strange and mostly unexpected things. Existence becomes more set adrift, a constant spot on ever larger canvasses, not really fading but shrinking within context. Contact with the world is less and less an immediate reality and ever more a "Movement Through Depth".
