ABOUT THIS COLLECTION This is the first new issue from Eschaton Productions, Inc., which has been a long time in formation. Devoted to intellectual journeys through the darkness of the age, Eschaton will be releasing books in many fields, not only poetry. Collections like this one, however, will be the cornerstone for Eschaton Books.
The poems collected here follow a similar pattern to my most recent independently produced book, "Movement Through Depth", in that they represent the best 10% or so of my output over a two-year period, in this case from 1990 and 1991. Presented in chronological order, with one exception, they trace the course of my writing during these years.
As living unfolds, it appears to follow vectors on more complex planes. Our multi-dimensional existence traces patterns which we can only dimly sense, and which seed frustration in our urgent attempts to read the resulting runes. Cataclysmic change occurs to us, and is barely registered, yet subtle eddies in the currents of our time drive us to distraction. We live in a stone-walled prison that we have helped to build, yet our insistent spirit forever bids us to be free. It is an ugly place between, a zone of decay, a context always sinking "Beneath This Weight of Chain".
