Chapman, the Priest and Priestess of a Wiccan temple, this book takes a look at the development of Christianity from a perspective outside of Biblical tradition. Begun as a project to help their students cope with Fundamentalist attacks, One True Doctrine traces the Bible back to its Pagan antecedents, explains the historical contexts in which it was canonized and promulgated, and provides a point-for-point overview of the many plainly contradictory statements in what is held to be an "inerrant" text.
This is an ideal book for the majority of people who are sure that the "Fundies" are playing fast and loose with their "inerrant" text, but have never been able to counter the inevitable onslaught of Bible quotes. Providing a look at the Bible and Christianity from a standpoint that few have taken, One True Doctrine will open many eyes to the biases and lies which have gone unchallenged for centuries.
